Surprise Visit Home!

I loove surprises! and more than receiving them - I love giving them! So its Thursday, 4pm and my mom calls me when i'm @ work...she says, oh its long weekend...are you doing anything? I tell her nope, no plans and she says (in a very sad tone) oh you should have come here then...then i wouldnt be so alone....!

*sigh* now if there is one thing in the world i am powerless against...it is that inflection in my mom's voice...when she is not trying to emotionally blackmail me or get me to do something...but genuinely just stating that she misses me!

a plan was formed and i spent the next one hour calling various travel agents & airlines to try and find the next avail flight back home which was within my budget! finally finalized on jetstar which was leaving that night at 9 & returning on sunday at midnite! :)

a call was made to mom's best friend, my partner-in-crime to send the car to the airport and she was forbidden to tell anything to mom...poor aunty - i gave her all my mom's tension and in her words, "someone had to worry about u!"

so my flight lands at 940 local time...by the time i get thru immigration and get in the car its already 10...then was 25 mins of fidgeting in the car till i finally reached my apt! my heart was thundering from all that adrenaline as i made my way to my apt entrance! i rang the bell, hoping that my dad would not use the intercom to ask who it is & hoping that they hadnt fallen asleep already!

dad was very pleasantly surprised to see me...(i think its impossible to actually shock him!) and mom who was half asleep thought she was dreaming! :)

the trip was a wonderful break and as my mom says "a fresh breeze" giving my parents the strength to hold on for another 3 wks till my brother comes back from university...

i think this is the first time that my parents are actually all alone...and it breaks my heart to see them so lonely...i just wish there was something i could do...but i dont think it is a good idea for me to go back and live there either...our personalities are just too opposing and i fear numerous world wars breaking out...

for now i cherish these short trips that i can make...which really refresh the mind & soul! :) all i did for 3 whole days was fill my stomach with good food, my heart with mom & dad's love & my soul with the comforting balm of home... :)

yep her expression was completely worth it! :)

and they are sort of more vulnerable with both of us not being around...and then the pleasure that u give them with the surprise is just an amazing feeling! :)
